Students may be exempt from immunization requirements where vaccination is contraindicated due to a medical condition. A signed statement of medical exemption from a medical doctor explaining the medical contraindication and the time period for which the exemption is being requested is required.
Students may also be exempt from immunizations due to religious beliefs. In this case, students are required to explain how immunizations conflict with their sincerely held religious beliefs.
Students who wish to seek a medical or religious exemption must complete this form (PDF), along with any appropriate documentation, and submit this form via the Healthy Broncs portal no later than June 15 for the fall semester and December 1 for the spring semester. Please note: The deadline for the 2021-22 academic year to submit COVID-19 vaccination exemption requests has been extended to July 23. Requests will not be considered that are received after that date.
Requests for exemptions will be carefully considered on a case by case basis but are not automatically granted. A philosophical, moral or conscientious objection is not the same as a religious exemption. A general objection to vaccination is not a valid reason for an exemption.
Students whose exemptions are granted for the COVID-19 vaccine will be subject to weekly surveillance testing and possible other precautionary measures including but not limited to quarantine or temporary exclusion from campus in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak or threatened outbreak or if they contract a vaccination-preventable disease.
