Challenge Your Body and Focus Your Mind

Develop an understanding of your body, both artistically and scientifically, while discovering your  personal optimal potential. Rider’s dance program helps you develop independence, creativity, strength and resiliency. Our physical therapist will work with you individually to create a holistic approach to your preventative health. This program concentrates on the mind-body connection promoting a feeling of self awareness and understanding of the physical, artistic and spiritual aspects of dance.

Major Requirements

Every year students work with professional dance artists to create and perform original pieces. Our faculty will work with you to promote a sense of mindfulness and well being within all of your movements. This includes conquering psychological hurdles such as performance anxiety and body dysmorphia. This program offers B.A. degrees in Dance Performance and Dance Science and a Dance Studies Concentration with Elementary Education. 

In B.A.-Dance/Performance Track, a total of 15 credits of applied dance instruction, including all dance courses taken at Rider University and at Princeton Ballet School (PBS).

In B.A.-Dance/Dance Studies Track, a total of 14 credits of applied dance instruction, including all dance courses taken at Rider University and at Princeton Ballet School.

Go Beyond Performance

Dance performance graduates leverage their intensive training and knowledge of the art form to prepare for a variety of arts-related roles or careers that extend beyond performance.

Cultivate Your Artistry

Rider has a unique partnership with Princeton Ballet School and American Repertory Ballet. Some students take advanced studio classes at PBS. Performance opportunities include main stage concerts, Dance Days, Family Weekend and Homecoming, senior capstones and opportunities with a variety of student dance groups.

Harness the Healing Power of Your Art

Apply your artistry as a therapeutic technique and enhance your undergraduate studies with our accelerated 4+2 option. You’ll earn an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and qualify to become a Registered Dance/Movement Therapist (R-DMT) AND a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
