Transfer students applying to Rider should follow the application steps, deadlines, and academic requirements below. For information on scholarships visit the scholarships for transfer students section.

Follow these steps to apply:

  2. No Application Fee for Transfer Students!
  3. Submit Your Transcript(s)
    Submit official transcripts from each college/university attended.
    Note: If you have fewer than 30 college credits, you must also submit official high school transcripts.
  4. Letter of Recommendation
    Letters of recommendation are not required for any of the programs at Rider University in Lawrenceville, but are welcomed and will be considered if submitted. Applicants to the Westminster Choir College in Princeton must submit at least one recommendation from a teacher, instructor or coach in a music-related field.
  5. Submit the Essay
    Your essay should be a minimum of 150 words and should address your goal in transferring to Rider at this point in your academic career.
  6. Auditions
    Westminster College of the Arts requires an audition as part of the application process.
    Program specific information and dates of campus auditions, scholarship competitions and regional auditions can be found in the auditions section.

Scholarship eligibility is determined at the same time we review your complete application. Rider practices rolling admissions; once your application is complete, you will be notified of your decision.

*Deposit deadline: Students admitted after April 17 should deposit within two weeks of the date of their letter of admission.

Application Review

Rider University welcomes students with a variety of academic backgrounds. When reviewing an application for admission, the Admission Office takes a holistic approach by assessing your academic performance, your admission essay, recommendation letters, and out-of-classroom experiences. Once the committee has reviewed the entirety of the student's academic experience, an admission decision will be made.
