It’s never too late to become a teacher. Rider’s post-baccalaureate teacher certification (PBTC) program helps you transition into the world of professional education, teaching, and learning. While developing your identity as a professional educator, you’ll also bring in your own experiences to learn how to create an inclusive, engaging classroom where every student can thrive. With mentorship and feedback from Rider faculty, you’ll be prepared to adapt, grow, and lead in a profession that’s always evolving.

  • Early childhood (P–3) — 33 credits
  • Elementary education (K–6) — 30 credits
  • English as a second language (K–12) — 24 credits
  • Subject areas (K–12) — 21 credits (options include business, English, mathematics, sciences, social studies, world languages, music, and theater)

Career opportunities beyond initial teacher certification

The post-baccalaureate teacher certification (PBTC) program prepares you for classroom teaching across grade levels and subject areas. The program can also lead to the MAT degree that opens pathways to other graduate degrees and opportunities within Rider’s College of Education and Human Services.
