Medical Insurance

It is a New Jersey state law that all undergraduate students attending a University must have proof of health insurance coverage.

  • All international students with J1 and F1 visas, regardless of enrollment, are required to have health insurance coverage. Students will be automatically billed for the Student Health Insurance Fee of $1,862.00.
  • If you have insurance coverage similar to what Rider offers, you can bring a copy of your insurance policy, in English, to the Center for International Education’s office.
    • Contact: Sara Young-Singh Director, Center for International Education 609-896-7717
  • If you elect not to purchase the insurance through Rider, the Rider student must complete a paper (see below) waiver form and submit it to the International Department for approval. Short Term (exchange)
  • If your existing coverage is found to be comparable, a copy of your insurance policy will be made and you will be asked to sign a waiver for the insurance offered through Rider University. All waiver requests must be brought to the Center for International Education office by the second week of classes.  All charges for insurance will be removed from your student bill if your insurance fee has been waived.
  • If you have any questions concerning our health insurance policy, please feel free to review the plan.
  • For questions about enrollment contact Student Health Services at 609-896-5060 or email [email protected].
