Rider’s training in sociology provides an excellent background and skills for a wide range of careers. Graduates pursue careers in business, counseling, education, government, policy advocacy, public health, media, social services and more. Students also possess a strong foundation to pursue further education to obtain degrees in law, urban planning or social work.
Our curriculum offers students a pathway to engage in a diverse range of hands-on, applied and experiential learning opportunities that allow them to learn more about the study of sociology and narrow down their specialty area.
The sociology major blends theory with applied learning and features foundational coursework in sociology and anthropology, a sequence of skills courses and a variety of substantive courses on specific topics.
