Program Overview

Our 21-credit part-time, evening teacher certification program for college graduates and career changers seeking to obtain the initial teaching certificate provides candidates the opportunity to earn their initial K-6 teaching certification while working with students in classrooms. The program can be completed in just under two years including student teaching placement in the last semester.

Rider also offers a full-time accelerated nine-month teacher certification program.

Rider offers a streamlined program of professional studies that combines the best of theory, research, and practice.

Highlights include

  • Take one or two courses per semester and learn on your time with classes in the late afternoon or evening.
  • Student teach full-time in your last semester
  • Meet the requirements to receive a New Jersey Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing
  • Transfer all of your certification credits (21 -24 credits) from the Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification program into the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree

Students will be able to transfer all of their certification credits (21 -24 credits) from the Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification program into the MAT degree if they choose to continue their teacher education.
