If you are enrolled in a composition class, you may see that it is linked to a non-credit Writing and Rhetoric Workshop (NCT course). Students enrolled in the participating CMP sections (mostly CMP 120) are required to attend weekly writing workshops held by embedded tutors (ETs).
ETs are successful Rider students who have earned A's in their writing classes, have been recommended by their professors, have a high GPA, and participate in weekly training sessions.
At the beginning of the semester, ETs will poll the students in each section to select the best day and time for the writing workshops. If these don’t work for some students, there are plenty of other options to fulfill the requirement as we offer:

- Individual appointments with writing consultants in the Writing Studio (to schedule an appointment please visit TutorTrac)
- Online Writing Lab (OWL) for students in ET-supported CMP sections

The Embedded Tutoring Program’s mission is to provide Rider University students with effective writing and reading support in participating CMP sections. Our goal is to help students become better writers, increase student engagement, promote good study habits and attitudes, and create a community of writers. We foster a supportive and personalized environment in which students as well as tutors develop communication, interpersonal, teamwork, leadership, and critical thinking skills.
