Rider University awards $95.3M in scholarships and financial aid annually with an average student assistance package of $35.8K. The University utilizes the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, (FAFSA) as the main determinant of how much aid a student will receive based on the family's expected contribution (EFC).

It is important to file as early as possible to help maximize the amount of aid you are eligible to receive. Funding is available through federal and state governments as well as from Rider's own institutional funds.

The information below will help you with applying for financial aid at Rider University:

  1. Apply for admission to Rider University
  2. Complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after October 1 preceding the year in which you plan to enroll. The priority filing deadline for all Rider students is February 1. We encourage you to complete the FAFSA online at  If you need help filling out the FAFSA, Rider's Office of Financial Aid professionals are ready to help, just give us a call at 609-896-5360. Don't forget to include Rider's six digit code number (002628) on the application.

Early Action Financial Aid: If you are a freshman applicant applying for admission through Early Action, you may also apply for early action on your financial aid award by completing the FAFSA by November 15. If admitted through Early Action, we will also provide you with your complete freshman financial aid package by December 20.
  3. Once we receive the results of your needs analysis from the federal processor, we will design a financial aid package to meet your individual needs. You will receive an award letter from Rider outlining the various types of aid for which you are eligible.
  4. Returning Students: You must reapply for financial aid each year while you are in school.
