Rider’s B.A. in History program offers courses in the history of the U.S., Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean. In addition to lecture courses, majors participate in seminars at the freshman, junior and senior levels. Program faculty have won two Distinguished Teaching Awards, a Distinguished Service Award and a Research Prize.

No matter where you began your journey, Rider has the resources you need to continue moving forward. At Rider, transfer students are defined as students who are under the age of 25 and have credits from another college or university.
Rider offers flexible pathways for adult learners aged 25 or over, including veterans and active duty military personnel, that allow you to earn your bachelor's degree or take courses for personal enrichment. Non-matriculated or visiting students should apply using the Continuing Education application.
Rider’s B.A. in History strengthens the connection between intellectual achievement, demonstrated by performance in the capstone project, and the curriculum which is designed to assure that important skills and habits of mind are introduced and reinforced in a structured way.
Majoring in history prepares students for a variety of careers because of the analytical (critical thinking) and communication (written and oral) skills it fosters.

Students can choose from a wide variety of internship possibilities, including historic preservation, museum exhibit research and display, archive management and research, educational programming (excellent choice for Education/History Majors), oral history projects, documentary filmmaking, or historical archaeology.
