The Academic Success Center Writing Studio is located in the Bart Luedeke Center, Suite 237. We provide free individual and small-group tutoring for writing, reading comprehension, study strategies, and English Language Learners (ELL). In addition, we offer Embedded Tutoring and in-class support for faculty teaching writing intensive courses across-the-disciplines.

The Writing Studio is staffed by highly qualified peer and professional tutors. The Student Writing Consultants are undergraduate and graduate students who are specially trained by the Writing Studio Coordinator before they begin tutoring. Additionally, faculty, staff, and professional tutors provide supplemental training to ensure the Student Writing Consultants effectively assist students with their writing processes. Many of the student consultants have successfully completed a semester-long course, Theories of Writing and Tutoring.

Our Professional Tutors must have at least a bachelor’s degree though many have advanced degrees and experience as instructors at Rider.

To schedule an appointment for assistance with writing, reading, study strategies, and/or ESL, please call 609-896-5008 or log on to TutorTrac with your Bronc username and password.

Writing Studio Mission

The Writing Studio’s mission is to provide Rider University students with effective writing support across the disciplines. Our goals are to help students recognize their strengths, build upon them, and acquire the ability to independently locate opportunities for improvement within their own writing. We are dedicated to fostering independent learning and student engagement through individual, facilitative, and attentive writing support. Our tutoring sessions are designed to cultivate, in a collaborative setting, communication skills in both verbal and written form.

Diversity Statement

The Writing Studio houses a community of writers devoted to providing a safe, accessible space for writers of all abilities and backgrounds. We encourage and embody diversity and acceptance by welcoming students and employing tutors from all ethnicities, geographical locations and cultural environments, sexual orientations, and gender identities. The Writing Studio embraces our Rider community’s unique life experiences and varied learning and writing styles that comprise the Writing Studio’s distinct tapestry.

Welcome, everyone, we cannot wait to meet you.
