Why Stacy chose Rider

Stacy came to Rider because it was the best of both worlds. She could get the small school experience where she knew her professors personally while being able to get involved in internships and field experiences and have her work published. Rider provided Stacy with an intimate education environment that opened the doors to numerous opportunities where she could showcase her education and begin her career.

The plan of study for the earth sciences major really does prepare prospective teachers for what they'll face in terms of curriculum in a high school setting."

Supervisor of Science, Delaware Valley Regional High School

Rider's impact on Stacy's career

Stacy continues to use her Rider education as she teaches the next generation of scientists. Not only does she teach the information she learned, but she also took teaching inspiration from her professors. The teaching methods they used influenced the way Stacy teaches her students today. As a secondary education major, programs such as Earth Science and Environmental Science provide students like Stacy who are interested in the natural world a great opportunity to explore their interests and prepare for a career in education. After she graduated, Stacy was ready to go from student to teacher as a result of the stellar education and experience she had at Rider.

Continued success

Stacy was named the 2020 Teacher of the Year at Delaware Valley Regional High School and, in 2022, took on new leadership as Supervisor of Science for her school. Stacy's accomplishment was also highlighted on the local news, honoring her passion for teaching and developing the next generation of leaders. Even in the most difficult circumstances, Stacy creates a nurturing, encouraging environment for her students to learn in. As she continues to encourage her students, Stacy carries with her a Rider education that taught her dedication, passion, and inspiration.
