Game Design Academy

July 5-11, 2026

Rider University’s Game Design Academy immerses high-school students in the game development process through a one-week boot camp of art, coding, design, and audio workshops culminating in a 48-hour “Game Jam” – a contest to build the best game possible in the available time. Students will live on campus for the week and work with industry-standard tools, including the Godot game engine, in Rider’s Game Lab, with instruction from Rider’s Game & Interactive Media Design faculty. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team, and all games will be published on itch.io, giving students a piece they can include in a future portfolio. Each team will own its intellectual property.
