This annual award is given to current and previous students in any MCS course. The student applied lessons from MCS courses regarding race, class, and gender in the U.S. to understand or analyze a specific social change issue or problem within Rider University or the broader community.

The Sociology Award for Social Commitment in memory of John Clemons is given out every year to a Sociology major who has demonstrated a commitment to helping those in need, either within the larger community, or on the Rider campus itself. All students are eligible to apply.
