by Rachel Stengel ’14, ’20
Once again, Rider University’s student-run radio station, 107.7 The Bronc WRRC-FM, has been recognized as a standout among its peers, earning eight Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) Media Award nominations. The awards acknowledge exceptional programming from college and university radio stations across the United States.
This year’s nominations include:
- Best Celebrity or Artist Interview: Wake Up Rider / Toad The Wet Sprocket
- Best On-Air Pledge Drive: 107.7 The Bronc's First-Ever Radiothon
- Best Station Contest: Cruisin' From Commencement 10th Anniversary
- Best Station Promotional Poster: Scream Screen X, junior Jake Goebel
- Best Giveaway: Wake Up Rider's Morning Bagel Run and Jewelry Spree
- Best Use of SFX: Apprentice's New Music, sophomore Dan Loges
- Best Sports Interview: Broncs on Broad / Mike Sielski, The Philadelphia Inquirer, junior Kadie DiGiuseppe, senior Ben Shinault and senior Jordan Hirsh
- Best Radio Station (Under 10,000 Students): 107.7 The Bronc WRRC-FM
This is 107.7 The Bronc's fourth consecutive nomination for Best Radio Station (Under 10,000 Students). The station won the award in 2023 and earned two awards last year for Best College Morning Show (Wake Up Rider) and Best Station Giveaway.
"Every year, we set goals for our student leadership team at 107.7 The Bronc. This year's goals were to execute a radiothon, do more artist and celebrity interviews on Wake Up Rider and other student shows, like Broncs on Broad, and continue to improve our contests, events and promotion,” says John Mozes, general manager. “Not only did our students succeed in achieving those goals, our team of over 120 student content creators were rewarded with eight IBS nominations, including Best Radio Station."
A truly hands-on experience, the radio station operates under the leadership of an executive staff of students with roles ranging from student general manager to programming director to promotions director and more. Kadie DiGiuseppe, assistant student general manager, is the first student to earn four IBS nominations for her work at 107.7 The Bronc. The junior sports media major was previously nominated for Best Newscast, Best Sports Talk Show and Best News Director.
“I am truly honored to be a four-time nominee,” she says. “I am so grateful for my two co-hosts, Ben and Jordan, and I am so excited to go back to NYC and hopefully take the trophy this time."
The Bronc is routinely recognized for its excellent programming, earning a spot on The Princeton Review’s national list of Best College Radio Stations and five nominations for the National Association of Broadcasters’ Marconi Award for College Radio Station of the Year.
Established in 1940, IBS stands as the premier non-profit broadcast organization in the nation, representing over 1,000 education-affiliated radio stations and webcasters. Winners will be announced during the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Conference on Feb. 21, 2026, in New York City.
