The first step of your audition or interview process, is to submit your Academic Application. Please select your specific major below to view individual requirements.

View Requirements

  1. Apply to Rider University via the Common Application or Rider Application
  2. Receive Access to your Be A Bronc Applicant dashboard via Email: This will take at least 2 to 3 Business Days 
  3. Log in to your Be A Bronc Applicant account to Register for an Audition. 
  4. Review Audition Requirements: 
    • All of the following are required. Performance from memory is encouraged, but not required. Videos must show pedals.
    • One work by J.S. Bach or another Baroque composer.
    • Two contrasting (one lyrical and one virtuosic) selections by romantic or contemporary composers.
    • Accurate and fluent sight-reading of a four-part hymn.
    • Applicants with a strong piano background who wish to apply for study in organ may elect to play their audition on the piano for members of the organ faculty. The audition will include all of the following, of which one must be from memory:
      • An invention or prelude & fugue by J.S. Bach.
      • A first movement of a sonata by Haydn, Mozart, or Beethoven (excluding Beethoven op. 49; op. 79; and op. 27, no. 2)
      • A 19th, 20th, or 21st-century composition.
  5. You will not receive academic acceptance prior to your audition. Admission decisions will be provided 1 to 2 weeks after your completed audition.

  3. Log in to your Be A Bronc Applicant account to Register for an Audition. 
  4. Review Audition Requirements: 
    • All of the following are required and must be from memory. Pedals must be shown during audition.
      • A prelude & fugue from J.S. Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier.
      • A sonata by Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven (excluding Beethoven op. 49 or op. 79).
      • A 19th-century composition.
      • A 20th or 21st-century composition.
  5. You will not receive academic acceptance prior to your audition. Admission decisions will be provided 1 to 2 weeks after your completed audition.

  1. Apply to Rider University via the Common Application or Rider Application
  2. Receive Access to your Be A Bronc Applicant dashboard via Email: This will take at least 2 to 3 Business Days 
  3. Log in to your Be A Bronc Applicant account to Register for an Audition. 
  4. Review Audition Requirements: 
    • All of the following are required. All of the following must be from memory. 
    • Four songs from memory from the classical repertoire, representing various languages and/or style periods. The singer should demonstrate musical and vocal ability that gives promise of successful college-level study.
      • Suggested repertoire selections for all voice auditions include songs and arias of the 17th and 18th centuries, art songs from the 19th and 20th centuries, including spirituals, and/or operatic and oratorio literature when suitable for the singer.
  5. You will not receive academic acceptance prior to your audition. Admission decisions will be provided 1 to 2 weeks after your completed audition.

    • Interview with the Music Education faculty.
  5. You will not receive academic acceptance prior to your audition. Admission decisions will be provided 1 to 2 weeks after your completed audition.

    • Interview with a member of the Sacred Music faculty.
  5. You will not receive academic acceptance prior to your audition. Admission decisions will be provided 1 to 2 weeks after your completed audition.

  1. Apply to Rider University via the Common Application or Rider Application
  2. Receive Access to your Be A Bronc Applicant dashboard via Email: This will take at least 2 to 3 Business Days 
  3. Log in to your Be A Bronc Applicant account to Register for an Audition. 
  4. Review Audition Requirements: 
    • All of the following are required.
    • Audition on primary instrument: organ, piano, or voice. See Primary Instrument Audition Requirements below.
    • Submit original scores which best demonstrate your present abilities. Please upload to your digital portfolio in your Be A Bronc dashboard; include PDF scores and recordings of these scores in MP3 format. In the absence of live/studio recordings, MIDI realizations, delivered in MP3 format, are an acceptable alternative.
    • Interview with a member of the department.
  5. You will not receive academic acceptance prior to your audition. Admission decisions will be provided 1 to 2 weeks after your completed audition.
