How to Apply: Scholarships

Because each scholarship has different eligibility requirements, students should first identify the awards that match their study abroad program, class year, major, and financial circumstances.

Step 1
Confirm that you meet the eligibility requirements for the scholarship.

Step 2
Maintain an active study abroad application when the scholarship requires one.

Step 3
Prepare the required essay or supporting materials.

Step 4
Include your Bronc ID, class year, and major when required.

Step 5
Collect supporting Financial Aid documentation when financial need is part of the criteria.

Step 6
Submit materials to scholarships@rider.edu by the scholarship deadline listed for the current application cycle.

Funding Your Travel Experience

Study abroad can be a significant investment, but scholarships may help make an international experience more accessible. Rider students may be eligible for university-funded awards as well as external scholarships for semester, summer, and short-term study abroad.

Eligibility varies by scholarship and may be based on financial need, academic standing, class year, major, language study, program type, or other criteria. Students should review each opportunity carefully and confirm current deadlines and requirements before applying.

Important Scholarship Planning Tips

  • Start reviewing scholarship options early, before your study abroad application deadline.
  • Some scholarships are limited to specific majors, colleges, class years, destinations, or program types.
  • Financial-need documentation is required for several Rider-funded scholarships.
  • External scholarship deadlines and eligibility rules are controlled by the sponsoring organization and may differ from Rider's deadlines.
  • Receiving one form of study abroad funding may affect eligibility for another scholarship, as noted for the Madison Miller '21 Study Abroad Fund.
