* To be paid for a Rider holiday, you must work or take an authorized paid day off on the scheduled workday before and after the holiday.
Floating Holidays
Non-faculty employees who are employed by the University on July 1 will receive two floating holidays (nurses receive one). New hire non-faculty employees hired between July 1 and December 31 will receive two floating holidays, except nurses who will receive one. New hire non-faculty employees hired between January 1 and May 30 will receive one floating holiday. New hire non-faculty employees hired during the month of June will not receive a floating holiday for that fiscal year. The use of floating holidays requires supervisory approval and may not be carried over into the next fiscal year.
Winter Close
From Friday, December 22, 2023 through Friday, December 29, 2023, the University will close to allow staff an extended holiday period and to conserve energy costs. The University will reopen on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
Rider will also offer additional time off following the end of the Final Exam period of the Fall semester and before the start of the Spring semester in the form of a reduced winter work schedule from Monday, December 18, 2023 through Thursday, January 18, 2024. Friday December 22nd the University will be closed for the full day.
For those working standard office hours, the workweek will be as follows:
- Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Friday, 8:30 a.m. to noon (Friday December 22nd the University will be closed)
In preparation for the spring semester, which begins on Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, the University will operate under regular hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, 2024.
