The move is intended to amplify efforts to increase the University’s impact and visibility
Rider University recently announced the establishment of the Division of External Affairs, marking the next step in the University’s commitment to fostering stronger connections and enhancing its visibility at the local, regional and national levels.
In his announcement to the Rider community, University President Gregory G. Dell’Omo, Ph.D. said the new division will consolidate Rider’s external engagement strategies, including government relations, community engagement, corporate partnerships, marketing and digital strategy, creative services, communications, and media relations.
“Five years ago we established a high-functioning marketing and communications department to enhance Rider’s visibility to a wider audience,” said Dell’Omo. “We also built a strong foundation for corporate partnerships and government relations. The creation of the new division builds upon this good work and brings all of our external engagement strategies under one umbrella.”
Rider's Office of University Marketing and Communications (UMC) will provide the foundation for the new division under the leadership of newly appointed Vice President of External Affairs, Kristine Brown.
“The portfolio of the new division provides Kristine and her team with more opportunities to develop initiatives that will amplify Rider’s brand and public image while remaining committed to UMC’s original focus on vital enrollment and fundraising efforts,” said Dell’Omo. “It will also intensify our efforts to identify and secure additional governmental funding from sources at both the state and federal levels.”
UMC underwent restructuring about five years ago to strengthen its ability to raise the University’s profile, increase enrollment and advance philanthropic goals, as outlined in Rider’s strategic plan.
During this period, Brown and her team spearheaded Rider’s first-ever comprehensive brand study, leading to a major rebranding campaign. They also launched a new university website and established long-term partnerships with organizations such as the New York Giants, among other achievements.
“This new division will play a pivotal role in fostering strong partnerships and elevating the profile of our University,” said Brown. “I’m very excited and grateful for the opportunity to continue advancing the University's mission with our talented team.”
The announcement of the new division comes on the heels of one of Rider’s most successful enrollment years to date. With this proactive approach and forward-thinking vision, the University is poised for continued success, charting a course toward innovative new experiences for students and heightened global visibility that will undoubtedly shape Rider’s trajectory for years to come.
