Rider University students to participate
The Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics at Rider University is proud to sponsor the highly anticipated New Jersey Senate debate between Congressman Andy Kim and First Lady Tammy Murphy on Feb. 18 at 8 p.m.
Presented in collaboration with New Jersey Globe and On New Jersey, the virtual debate will be moderated by Emmy Award-winning television host, reporter and producer Laura Jones. During the event, a group of Rider students will have an opportunity to pose questions to the candidates.
“We are incredibly gratified to be able to offer this first head-to-head debate, and for our students to get a front-row view of this pivotal moment in politics,” says Micah Rasmussen ’92, director of the Rebovich Institute. "New Jersey has not had such a hotly-contested Senate primary in decades, and right now, all eyes are on Andy Kim and Tammy Murphy.”
The debate will be available for live streaming and replay on newjerseyglobe.com and onnj.com.
Earlier this month, Rasmussen took part in a "Meet the Candidates" event on New Jersey Politics with Laura Jones, featuring Congressman Kim. The discussion, which included questions and insights from Rasmussen, Joey Fox, political reporter for New Jersey Globe, and David Wildstein, editor of New Jersey Globe, drew significant attention with over 10,000 livestream viewers. A recording of the event is available for viewing here.
The Rebovich Institute has several other noteworthy events scheduled for the spring semester, including “An Evening with Congressman Josh Gottheimer” on Feb. 21 and “An Evening with Governor Phil Murphy” on March 4. Both events are free and open to the public, however advanced registration is requested.
