Testa’s prospects for the 2025 gubernatorial race among key topics to be discussed
by Tatiana Sciancalepore
The Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics at Rider University will host “An Evening with Senator Michael Testa” on April 18 at 6:30 p.m. in Lynch Adler Hall Room 202.
Chair of the Cumberland County Republican Party, Sen. Michael Testa has represented the 1st legislative district in the New Jersey Senate since 2019. Among key topics to be discussed are the possible effects of offshore wind projects on marine life and Testa’s prospects for the 2025 gubernatorial race.
"Public service is a strong family tradition for Sen. Testa – his grandfather was a beloved Vineland mayor in the 1950s, and his mother currently serves on her township committee,” says Micah Rasmussen ’92, director of the Rebovich Institute.
Under Testa’s leadership, the Republican Party won both seats on the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners in 2022. This is the first time in 40 years that a Republican majority has been held for more than one year.
“Sen. Testa has presided over a remarkable shift in South Jersey's politics,” says Rasmussen. “We are fortunate to get to learn about this important trend directly from him."
The Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics is dedicated to public service and scholarly analysis of government, public policy, campaigns and elections in New Jersey. It was founded in 2001 by the late Professor David Rebovich (1949–2007). Today, the Rebovich Institute is a dynamic and creative home where students can network, study and gain practical experience in New Jersey politics.
"An Evening with Senator Michael Testa" is free and open to the public, but advanced registration is requested by visiting rider.edu/testa.
