Student-run station wins top national honor after six nominations in seven years
by Alix Knice
107.7 The Bronc took home the top award at the National Association of Broadcasters’ annual Marconi Radio Awards in New York City on Oct. 20, earning the title of 2026 College Radio Station of the Year.
“To be nominated for a Marconi Radio Award is so surreal. To win is even more incredible,” says Kadie DiGiuseppe, a senior sports media major. “The list of people to thank goes on and on; the list of people that worked for this is even longer. 107.7 The Bronc is such a unique place where we are able to create friendships, amazing content and great events, but I still could have never dreamed of winning radio’s biggest award. I am so grateful.”
The Bronc has been nominated for the prestigious award a record six times over the past seven years, but this is the first time in station history it has won.
“The outpouring of support we received, not only from radio professionals but also from fellow colleges, was overwhelming, to say the least,” says Dan Loges, a junior arts and entertainment industries management major. “It was an honor just to be nominated, and winning is an honor that’s difficult to put into words.”
107.7 The Bronc has been consistently recognized for its excellence, having won three Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) Media Awards in February. The station continues to improve upon its existing capabilities, recently adding video streaming to embrace the evolving media landscape. Further, the team at the Bronc is responsible for several campus traditions, including Scream Screen every October.
“I couldn't be more proud of and happy for this group of students who pour their hearts and souls into creating content for 107.7 The Bronc 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year,” says John Mozes, general manager of 107.7 The Bronc and executive director of the Student Media Center. “I'm also proud of and happy for all of the 107.7 The Bronc alumni whose hard work and dedication paved the way for this edition of student broadcasters to earn the NAB's coveted College Radio Station of the Year award.”
As one of the premiere college radio stations, students involved in 107.7 The Bronc gan hands-on experience in broadcasting, news, sports, production, promotions, digital media, video production and social media.
Established in 1989 and named after inventor and Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi, the NAB Marconi Radio Awards recognize overall excellence in radio by honoring outstanding stations, on-air personalities, podcasts and industry leaders.
