Academics & Rider Credit
Course offerings and credit amounts vary by program. Before committing to a summer program, students should review the current provider course catalog and work with Rider Study Abroad and the appropriate academic department to determine how selected courses may apply toward Rider degree requirements.
- Program lengths vary, from short intensive sessions to longer summer terms.
- Some programs focus primarily on language study, while others offer business, arts, humanities, social sciences, environmental studies, theatre, or interdisciplinary coursework.
- Language prerequisites vary. Several programs welcome beginners, while others require intermediate or advanced proficiency.
Housing & Meals
Housing and meal arrangements vary by provider and destination. Depending on the program, students may live in apartments, university or student residences, host families, or other provider-arranged accommodations.
Specific examples in the legacy brochures include FUBiS apartments, homestays, and student housing; shared housing in Kensington for the Shakespeare's Globe program; and host-family housing for the Lima program. Students should review the current provider page for the exact housing and meal package included with their selected program.
Eligibility
Requirements vary by summer program. Several legacy brochures list a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, but students should verify the current eligibility requirements for the specific program they are considering.
- Be in good academic standing at Rider.
- Meet any program-specific GPA or class-standing requirements.
- Meet language prerequisites when required.
- Receive Rider academic approval for planned coursework before departure
Costs & Scholarships
Summer program costs vary by provider, destination, length, housing arrangement, and included activities. Students should compare the current provider program fee with additional costs such as airfare, meals, local transportation, insurance, passport or visa expenses, and personal spending.
The legacy brochures consistently list a $125 Rider Study Abroad application fee. Because fees and provider pricing can change, the current Rider application fee and each provider's published cost should be confirmed before this webpage goes live.
Several brochures also list provider scholarships. Students should review current Rider Study Abroad scholarship information and the scholarship opportunities offered directly by AIFS, API, WorldStrides, or the host program.
