Clinton brings leadership experience with Westminster ensembles and national performing organizations
Dr. Tyrone Clinton, Jr. has been named interim director of choral studies for Westminster Choir College for the 2026-2027 academic year. He currently serves as conductor of the Westminster Chapel Choir and assistant conductor of the Westminster Symphonic Choir.
In his new role, he will conduct the world-renowned Westminster Choir and teach graduate level conducting courses.
Clinton is the founder and director of The Unsung Collective, a New York City–based nonprofit dedicated to celebrating people of color, and community partner of the New York Philharmonic. He also serves as conductor of the New York Philharmonic Youth Choir.
Throughout his career, Clinton has led performances with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mostly Mozart Festival, the Center for Art, Research and Alliances, and Lincoln Center. He also conducted the Hungarian National Symphony Orchestra Szeged, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Jamaica, the Chamber Orchestra of New York and the World Trade Center’s inaugural Juneteenth Celebration in 2021.
