Rider University was one of only 13 institutions of higher education in New Jersey recognized as a 2024 Most Engaged Campus for College Student Voting by the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge. The challenge honors colleges and universities for their outstanding efforts to increase nonpartisan student voter participation.

“This recognition reflects Rider’s unwavering commitment to preparing students to be active, informed participants in our democracy,” says Micah Rasmussen, director of The Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics at Rider University.

Rider was among 471 colleges and universities recognized by ALL IN for its dedication to fostering civic engagement. This recognition highlights Rider’s completion of four core actions: participating in the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, sharing its 2022 National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement report with ALL IN, developing and submitting a 2024 democratic engagement action plan, and maintaining a current signatory to ALL IN’s Higher Education Presidents’ Commitment to Full Student Voter Participation.

“Research shows that colleges and universities that make intentional efforts to increase nonpartisan democratic engagement achieve higher campus voter registration and turnout rates,” says Jennifer Domagal-Goldman, executive director of the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge.

More than 1,075 institutions, enrolling over 10.8 million students, participate in the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge. The challenge is one of seven national initiatives led by Civic Nation, a nonprofit dedicated to building a more inclusive and equitable America through organizing and education campaigns.

“This year we saw more colleges than ever before step up their efforts to ensure their students were registered and ready to make their voices heard at the ballot box,” Domagal-Goldman says. “These Most Engaged Campuses are setting the standard for nonpartisan civic engagement work at colleges and universities across the country.”

Rider has repeatedly been honored for its commitment to student voter participation by the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge. For its efforts in the 2022 Midterm Election, the University earned multiple accolades, including the 2022 MAAC Votes Highest Voting Rate and 2022 MAAC Votes Highest Registration Rate.
