As part of its ongoing Governing New Jersey series, the Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics at Rider University will present “An Evening with Hon. Jack Ciattarelli” on Sept. 29.
Ciattarelli, a likely Republican candidate for New Jersey governor, has been a state assemblyman for the 16th Legislative District since 2011. His previous public service positions include Raritan Borough councilman and Somerset County freeholder and director.
“Ciattarelli is looking to redefine his party's image and policy agenda in the aftermath of the Trump campaign and the Christie tenure as governor, which is going to be a very big challenge,” says Dr. Benjamin Dworkin, director of the Rebovich Institute. “We are really excited to have him come because so many of the decisions made by the governor — on taxes, education, the environment, regulation, etc. — have a very real impact on Rider and our students.”
The Governing New Jersey series is an ongoing effort by the Rebovich Institute to bring in key state leaders. For example, out of the three Republicans vying for the nomination to be governor after Christie, two have already spoken at Rider, and Ciattarelli will be the third. Out of the six Democrats running for governor, five have spoken at Rider already and the sixth (former state party chairman Tom Byrne) will speak at Rider on Oct. 17.
Ciattarelli has focused on issues such as education state funding for public schools, public pension and tax reforms, open space and the environment, and the general affordability of New Jersey.
The Assemblyman earned a bachelor's in accounting and an MBA in finance from Seton Hall University. His career started in 1995 when he co-founded American Medical Publishing. He is also the founder and current CEO of Galen Publishing.
“An Evening with Hon. Jack Ciattarelli” will start at 6 p.m. with a light reception, followed by remarks at 7 p.m. and a question-and-answer period. The event is open to the public free of charge and will take place in the Mercer Room inside Daly Dining Hall on Rider’s Lawrenceville campus. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
