Rider’s Advertising, Media, Promotions and Design club is making its mark on campus

Advertising, Media, Promotions and Design (AMP’D), one of Rider's newest clubs, helps students develop skills in media-based fields through experimental learning and professional opportunities. Now in its second year, the club welcomes students of all majors, but focuses on advertising, marketing, digital media, web design and promotion. AMP’D also provides members with networking opportunities, training workshops, competitions and interactions with the Philly Ad Club.

“AMP’D is a very relaxed, student-run group,” says Matt Cecio ‘16, founder and co-president of AMP’D. “We focus on intertwining the business department with the communications department so students can grow and develop in both areas.”

Members of AMP’D have unlimited access to the Philly Ad Club, one of the region’s largest and most active trade associations. Through AMP’D and the Philly Ad Club, students are connected with influential business professionals in advertising, media, creative, marketing and public relations fields. The Philly Ad Club represents greater Philadelphia ad agencies, digital agencies, Philadelphia media buying agencies, public relations firms, and broadcast and print media firms, among other organizations.

AMP’D members attend many of the workshops, mentor programs, agency tours and networking opportunities the Philly Ad Club has to offer. In the past, AMP’D members have attended workshops at Temple University and has helped students to individually connect with Philly Ad Club mentors who currently work for an agency or company.

The club also educates and trains students through fun, innovative systems. In addition, members have the opportunity to participate in the New York Festival Torch Awards. In May, participants will be able to compete in a series of events that explore creative challenges with real-world potential. This year, the competition focuses on the inclusive design challenge where participants will be creating successful advertisement plans for the Institute of Human Centered Design.

"I created AMP'D to be different from the other media-based organizations on campus," Cecio says. "We focus on presenting members with fun experiences, while also building key skills, confidence and networking experience."
