Beginning this summer, Westminster Choir College will offer an online program leading to a Master of Music in Sacred Music. This new program emphasizes practical pedagogy, and all courses will be offered online, except for one three-week summer experience either on the Westminster campus in Princeton or at Westminster’s Choral Institute at Oxford in Oxford, England.
The program is designed for musicians who are already working in the field, whether as teachers or in the church, or musicians who want to earn a master’s degree from Westminster but don’t have the time or resources for a two-year residency.
“We expect that this innovative program will be exciting for church musicians all across America, as well as in Asia and South and Central America,” says Associate Professor of Sacred Music Steve Pilkington.
This interdenominational program aims to strengthen leadership, artistry, and engage students in new paths toward liturgical excellence and spiritual depth. Broad and comprehensive in its design, it focuses on the practical side of making music and developing leadership skills in a community setting.
Details about Westminster’s new Master of Music in Sacred Music: Practical Pedagogy Track are on the Westminster website.
