Approved Courses for Engaged Learning

This slideshow is not enabled

Over two hundred of Rider’s credit-bearing courses earn Engaged Learning points because they incorporate rigorous, hands-on learning as part of the curriculum.  Approved courses span many disciplines and academic levels.  New courses are approved throughout the academic year as requested by the faculty.

Approved courses are easily identified by looking at the Course Roster.  Select the term you are interested in.  Look for a column titled Course Attr(ibute). (If you do not see the column displayed click on Options, Show/Hide Columns, and check Course Attr.)  The column indicates which courses earn points and in which engaged learning category.

The Course Roster is completely searchable by keying text into the search box at the bottom of each column.  You can search by course prefix, course number, section, instructor, and more.  You can even search the Course Attr. column for a list of courses that earn points by typing ELP in the search box.

At the end of each semester once your academic grade has been recorded by the Registrar, the credits from the approved courses you took are changed into Engaged Learning points, up to a maximum of 3 points for any one course, and are recorded on your Engaged Learning Transcript and in DegreeWorks. There is no limit to the number of courses you can take that earn engaged learning points.

Below is a list of all of the courses that have been approved to earn points.  They are divided into the six Categories of Engaged Learning.  This will help you to find a course to take in whichever category you need, to earn points in at least two different categories as required.

NOTE: The list of approved courses below is subject to change at any time.  Check the list each semester during course registration to look for additions or deletions.
