Nearly three hundred of Rider’s credit-bearing courses earn Engaged Learning points because they incorporate rigorous, hands-on learning as part of the curriculum. Approved courses span all disciplines and academic levels, and new courses are added throughout the year. There is no limit to the number of courses you can take that earn engaged learning points.
NOTE: The lists of approved courses below are subject to change at any time. Check the list each semester during course selection to look for updates.
Approved courses are easily identified by looking at the Course Schedule. Select the term you are interested in. Look for a column titled Course Attr(ibute). (If you do not see the column displayed click on the Show/Hide Columns icon on the right and select the Course Attr. Button to enable it. The Course Attr. column indicates which courses earn points and in which engaged learning category. The Course Schedule is completely searchable by using the Filters. You can search by course prefix, course number, section, instructor, and more. You can even search the Course Attr. field for a list of courses that earn points by typing ELP in the search box.
At the end of each semester once your academic grade has been recorded by the Registrar, the credits from the approved courses you completed are converted into Engaged Learning points, up to a maximum of 3 points for any one course. Points will be recorded on your Engaged Learning Transcript and in DegreeWorks within two weeks after grade submission is completed. There are two ways you may review a comprehensive list of all Engaged Learning courses. You can view an alphabetical list of all courses by course prefix and number or a list of courses divided into the six Categories of Engaged Learning.
