Westminster programs embody the mission of service through music and enrich the community.
Service through music has been a central part of Westminster Choir College’s mission since its founding in 1926, and it is a core value for Rider University.
Westminster Neighborhood Children’s Choir
Offered in collaboration with the Princeton Family YMCA, this free program provides young singers in grades 3 through 5 the opportunity to sing together, play musical games and develop music reading skills.
HomeFront Family Campus Music Program
This new program is offered by Westminster Choir College students and faculty at Westminster Conservatory, Westminster’s community music school, at the new Family Campus for HomeFront, the highly regarded program that helps families break the cycle of poverty. Westminster music education students provide group classes for parents and children and group singing for adults. Westminster Conservatory faculty present recitals for the HomeFront guests.
Daycare Early Childhood Music Program
Funded by a grant from the PNC Foundation, Westminster Conservatory provides music instruction at two Central New Jersey daycare centers that care for underserved children, ages 2½ to just under age 5: Paul Robeson Place YWCA Princeton Child Care Center and Nursery School in Princeton and the Millhill Child & Family Development Center in Trenton.
Opera Then and Now
Westminster's CoOPERAtive program partners with the National Parks Service in a program for middle and high school students that illustrates advances in recording technology by showcasing historical opera recordings.
