Dell’Omo recognized as an influential leader in higher education
by Tatiana Sciancalepore
Rider University President Gregory G. Dell’Omo, Ph.D., has been named to the ROI-NJ Influencers Power list for 2023. The New Jersey media company’s annual list recognizes the top business leaders in the state overall and in 14 individual categories.
This year’s higher education category highlights leaders making significant strides in preparing the next generation of successful professionals. Dell’Omo was one of just 18 leaders recognized in the category.
“I am honored to be included alongside so many distinguished colleagues working toward the common goal of student success,” Dell’Omo says. “Rider has always been fully committed to our students' pursuit of higher education and professional development, but we could not do so without the dedication and generosity of our community. I share this recognition with them.”
Through more than 100 programs in business, the arts, sciences, education and liberal arts, Rider University allows students to explore their unique interests while exposing them to new ideas that will help shape their future. From its earliest beginnings as a private business college, through its development as a comprehensive University, Rider has always adapted to meet the needs of today’s students while addressing the demands of tomorrow’s workforce.
As highlighted by ROI-NJ, under Dell’Omo’s leadership, Rider received a record $15.1 million in cash gifts during fiscal year 2022. This landmark accomplishment coincides with Rider’s public phase of Transforming Students – Transforming Lives: The Campaign for Rider University, the largest fundraising campaign in its 157-year history. The $80 million campaign will allow Rider to continue to evolve through new academic programs, innovative partnerships and enhanced living and learning environments. The campaign’s priorities are to invest in facilities, to increase scholarship support and build the University’s endowment, and to fuel student success through gifts to the Annual Fund.
Dell’Omo became Rider’s seventh president in 2015. He serves as the vice chair of Independent Colleges and Universities of New Jersey and on many other boards and organizations that advocate for and support higher education, including the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, the New Jersey Presidents’ Council’s Executive Committee and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Presidents’ Council.
