How you can help Double Pell and increase access to higher education

Dear students, faculty, staff and alumni,

 I’m writing to alert you to an effort to #DoublePell, a new national campaign aimed at encouraging Congress to double the maximum Pell Grant. 

Pell Grants are the fairest and most efficient way to provide education funding to those who need it most. By doubling the maximum grant from $6,495 to $13,000, Congress can make college possible for all students, no matter their financial background. This much-needed legislation would aid many students at Rider (35% of full-time Rider students currently qualify for Pell Grants) and help the country achieve effective and immediate economic recovery.

I’m proud that Rider is supporting this campaign and the Double Pell Alliance, a coalition of higher education associations, organizations and advocacy groups. Having Pell-eligible students and other advocates engage with the campaign is critical to its success. 

I hope you will consider supporting the effort to double the maximum award. The most important action you can take is to:
