Women host Manhattan, men host St. Peter’s
The Rider University basketball teams return to Alumni Gymnasium Thursday for a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m.
The Rider women host Manhattan College at 5 p.m. and the Rider men host Saint Peter’s University 30 minutes afterward.
Prior to the men’s game, Rider will honor retiring Lawrence Township Police Chief Daniel A. Posluszny by allowing members of law enforcement, firefighters and EMTs to receive a discounted general admission ticket for $3 by showing their badge or identification at the ticket window the night of the game.
Anthony Campbell, Rider’s Dean of Students, says the University has always maintained a close relationship with the Lawrence Township Police Department, especially with Chief Posluszny. In honor of his service to the community, Rider will present Chief Posluszny with a plaque during a halftime ceremony.
Vickie Weaver, director of Public Safety at Rider, says the Lawrence Township Police assists Rider with security for various events on campus, including basketball games and the fall concert.
“Chief Posluszny has been an invaluable resource to Rider University,” she says. “His dedication to his career and faithful service to the police department as well as Rider made him a great friend to the whole Rider community.”
Posluszny has been with the Lawrence Township police force for more than 28 years, 12 of which he spent as the chief.
