With two third place and two fourth place finishers the Broncs placed seventh at the Colonial Athletic Association Wrestling Championships, hosted by Binghamton University.

With two third place and two fourth place finishers the Broncs placed seventh at the Colonial Athletic Association Wrestling Championships, hosted by Binghamton University. "It didn't go well today," said Rider head coach Gary Taylor. "We didn't have a very good tournament."
Junior Zac Cibula (Luxemburg, Wis./Luxemburg Casco), the third seed at 149, placed third. Sophomore Ramon Santiago (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville) placed third at 157. Sophomore James Brundage (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining) placed fourth at 165. Freshman Vinny Fava (Elmwood Park, N.J./Elmwood Park) placed fourth at 141. "Zac wrestled back well," Taylor said.
In the battle for third place at 149, Cibula defeated the fourth seed, Brennan Brumley of ODU 8-3. Cibula lost 7-2 to the second seed, Justin Accordino of Hofstra in semifinals. Cibula won 4-1 over Shane Fenningham of Drexel in the first round. In consolations Cibula pinned (1:55) B. J. Suitor of BU.
In the battle for third place at 157 Santiago defeated the third seed, Austin Sommer of Drexel, 10-5. Santiago was pinned (4:30) by Drexel's Sommer in the first round. In the consolations, Santiago defeated Nick Tourville of BU 1-0 and then defeated the fourth seed, Tyler Banks of Hofstra 6-5 tb2. "Ramon wrestled back hard," Taylor said, "but he came up one point short in the match to go to Nationals."
In the battle for third place at 165, Brundage lost 12-3 to the top seed, Joe Booth of Drexel. Brundage lost 6-3 in the first round to Booth of Drexel. In the consolations, Brundage won a 12-3 major decision over Ty Knepp of Mason and beat the third seed, Matt Kaylor of Binghamton 9-5. "Brundage wrestled well against Kaylor in the match that got him to Nationals," Taylor said. "Kaylor is very good."
In the battle for third place at 141, Fava lost 6-4 to Dennis Herndon of George Mason. Fava lost 10-4 to the second seed, Frank Cimato of Drexel, in the first round. In the consolations, Fava defeated Joe Bonaldi of Binghamton 8-6.
Junior Jim Resnick (Media, Pa./Penncrest), the third seed at 174, went 1-1. In the semifinals Resnick was injured and had to default in the third period to Jermaine John of Hofstra. "He got knocked out," Taylor said. "The doctor said he could not continue. We are confident he will still be chosen to go to Nationals as a wild card."
Resnick won by tech fall over Seth Robertson of George Mason in the first round.
Freshman Jimmy Morris (Northport, NY/St. Anthony's), the top seed at 133, went 1-2. Morris was pinned (3:20) by the fourth seed, Scott Festejo of ODU in the semifinals. Morris defeated Zach Isenhour of George Mason 4-2 in the first round. In consolations Morris lost 8-7 to Patrick Hunter of Binghamton.
Sophomore Chuck Zeisloft (Woodbury Heights, N.J./Gateway), the third seed at 125, went 1-2. Zeisloft lost 1-0 in the first round to Chris McGinley of BU. In the consolations Zeisloft won an 8-0 major decision over Franco Faeraina of Drexel before losing 6-1 to Jerome Robinson of ODU.
Freshman Clint Morrison (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff), the third seed at 184, went 1-1.
Morrison was pinned (3:51) by Hunter Meys of Boston U. in the first round. In the consolations Morrison won by 17-2 tech fall over Ryan Hembury of Mason before losing 2-0 to the fourth seed, Billy Curling of ODU.
Freshman Donald McNeil (Plainville, Mass./Wyoming Seminary) went 1-2. McNeil lost 3-1 to the third seed at 197, Brandon Palik of Drexel. In the consolations McNeil won a 16-6 major decision over Tim Murphy of Hofstra before losing 5-3 to the fourth seed, Joe Budi of ODU.
Sophomore Evan Craig (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) went 0-2. Craig lost 2-1 to the fourth seed at heavyweight, Paul Snyder of Hofstra in the first round. In consolations, Craig lost 6-3 to Matt Tourdot of ODU.
Rider will now send at least Brundage to the NCAA Championships in St. Louis.
Hofstra, the defending champion and winner of 10 of the last 11 CAA Championships, finished with 80.5 points. Binghamton, ranked 19th in the nation, finished second with 78.5. Old Dominion, ranked 24th in the nation, was third with 68.5. Boston U was fourth with 34, Drexel fifth with 33.5, George Mason sixth with 30.5 and Rider had 28 points.
