The Rider men’s basketball team will participate in a Thanksgiving sports tradition with the return of the Philly Hoop Group Classic to the historic Palestra in Philadelphia on November 25 to 26. The format of this annual event allows teams to play two games at participating schools before advancing to the Palestra during Thanksgiving weekend, allowing fans to see six games over two days at college basketball’s most historic venue, located at the University of Pennsylvania. Participating teams include Pittsburgh, Penn, Rider, James Madison, LaSalle, and Robert Morris.
The Broncs take on James Madison and LaSalle in the Philly Hoop Group Classic, with both games airing on The Comcast Network.
Alumni and friends are invited to a pair of pregame gatherings at the nearby Mikey’s American Grill & Sports Bar prior to both Rider games at the Palestra. Reconnect with fellow alumni and friends on Friday, November 25, at noon, two hours before the Broncs’ 2 p.m. contest against James Madison. Or join the fun at Mikey’s the next day, Saturday, November 26, beginning at 2:30 p.m., prior to the Broncs’ 4:30 tip off against LaSalle. Mikey’s located at 3180 Chestnut Street in Philadelphia.
Please register online at http://alumni.rider.edu/eventregistration for the pregame gathering, or contact the Office of Alumni Relations at 609-896-5340 or [email protected].
