MAcc Student Receives $10,000 Scholarship

Anam Khan, a student in the Master of Accountancy program, was awarded a $10,000 scholarship by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) for the 2012-13 academic year.

The PCAOB is a nonprofit corporation established by Congress under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, to oversee the audits of public companies in order to protect investors and the public interest by promoting informative, accurate, and independent audit reports. The Board has established the PCAOB Scholarship Program to provide a source of funding to encourage outstanding undergraduate and graduate students to pursue a career in auditing. 

Khan, who received her undergraduate degree in Accounting from Rider in May 2012, is currently taking classes in the Master of Accountancy program. She held a co-op with KPMG during the fall 2012 semester. She is interning with Ernst & Young this summer. At Rider, Khan has been a student worker  in the Accounting department and has held officer positions in the Accounting Society and Beta Alpha Psi, the business honors fraternity. This year, she will conduct research for faculty members in the Accounting department. In the future, Khan would like to pursue a career in public accounting and eventually pursue a doctorate in Accounting.
