Legendary GCC Coach Barry Davis Inducted Into Gloucester County Hall of Fame
by Sports Information
Former Gloucester County College baseball coach Barry Davis was among the 13 new inductees to the Gloucester County Sports Hall of Fame during the 32nd Annual Induction Banquet March 27 at Auletto's Caterers in Almonesson.
Davis managed the Roadrunners for 11 seasons, compiling an amazing 434-109-5 record and was one of the nation's top JUCO coaches as his teams won four national championships during his 11-year tenure.
Davis then moved on to his current job, coaching the Rider University baseball team where he has had similar success. In 2010, he set a program-best 36-win-season; and last season he tied the record for most regular season wins with 33.
In just his fourth season at Rider Coach Davis led the Broncs to the 2008 NCAA Tournament as champion of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and repeated that accomplishment in 2010, guiding Rider to the MAAC Title and to the NCAA Regional at Austin, Texas.
Also inducted in the Class of 2012 was Michael Pensabene (Pitman), Al Radano (Gloucester Catholic), Joe Alexander (Delsea), Bernard Bunn (Glassboro), Cindy Ogbin (Deptford), John Cobb (West Deptford), Frank Zini (Clayton), Sean Silver (Deptford Twp.), John Jengehino (Williamstown), Arnita Green-Stanford (Delsea), Mike Reynolds (Williamstown) and Paulette Reilley-Cwik (Paulsboro).
