The College of Business Administration at Rider University has maintained its business and accounting accreditation by AACSB International — The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.
Today, there are 649 business schools in 43 countries that maintain AACSB Accreditation. Similarly, 178 institutions maintain an additional specialized AACSB Accreditation for their accounting programs. In fact, Rider is one of the two institutions of higher education in New Jersey that hold this additional accreditation.
To maintain accreditation, a business program must undergo a rigorous internal review every five years, during which the program must demonstrate its continued commitment to the 21 quality standards relating to faculty qualification, strategic management of resources, interactions of faculty and students, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement and achievement of learning goals in degree programs.
“It takes a great deal of self-evaluation and determination to earn and maintain AACSB Accreditation,” said Jerry Trapnell, vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. “Schools not only must meet specific standards of excellence, but their deans, faculty, and staff must make a commitment to ongoing improvement to ensure continued delivery of high-quality education to students.”
Rider’s College of Business Administration offers 12 undergraduate majors, ranging from Accounting and Computer Information Systems to Entrepreneurial Studies and Global Supply Chain Management, and three graduate programs, including Master of Accountancy, Master of Business Administration and Executive MBA. Rider’s Five-Star Undergraduate Business program focuses on professional development, cultivating a global perspective, understanding business by the numbers, effective business communication and preparing business leaders.
Students from the College of Business Administration compete in a number of national and global competitions. CBA programs are also recognized nationally. Recent recognitions include:
- Finalist in the 2011-12 Chartered Financial Analyst Society of Philadelphia’s 4th Annual CFA Institute Investment Research Challenge
- Third-place finish in the 2011 Johnson & Johnson National Business Case Competition
- Since 1998, students have had 20 top-10 or better finishes at the graduate and undergraduate levels nationally in Small Business Institute® Association’s Consulting Project of the Year competition, including a national title, four second-place, and two third-place finishes
- The Center for the Development of Leadership Skills, housed in CBA, has been recognized as a premier leadership development programs in the country by Leadership Excellence magazine three years in a row
“The CBA’s recent achievement of Maintenance of Accreditation by AACSB is a testament to the quality of our faculty who continue to create an exceptional learning environment” said Larry Newman, Rider’s dean of the College of Business Administration.
