University offers discounted educational advancement opportunities
On Oct. 11, Rider University formalized a partnership agreement that includes tuition assistance with Mercer County Community College (MCCC) for its employees.
Rider will now provide a 20 percent tuition reduction for all undergraduate and part-time graduate on-campus and online programs for MCCC employees. Rider offers more than 70 undergraduate programs and over 40 graduate programs. MCCC will also offer internship and job opportunities for Rider students and alumni.
This partnership expands upon the current transfer articulation agreements Rider has with MCCC. Currently, Rider provides seamless transfer opportunities for MCCC students through 28 program-to-program agreements.
"We've enjoyed an excellent relationship over the years with Mercer County Community College," says Rider President Gregory G. Dell'Omo. "We've worked together to provide pathways for students to advance their degrees and meet their career aspirations. Now, we're focusing on providing similar opportunities for employees of Mercer County Community College."
At the signing ceremony, presentations by students highlighted the impact the relationship between MCCC and Rider has had on their academic and career development. A current undergraduate student who transferred from MCCC to Rider spoke about Rider's Engaged Learning Program, which requires students to complete two high-impact learning experiences outside of their classroom work such as internships, study abroad opportunities and other leadership experiences. Two MCCC employees who are students in Rider's Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership program discussed their capstone projects and their work in helping underserved populations gain access to higher education.
“Rider University is one of our most valued partners, and we are pleased to expand that partnership to include employees, in addition to the numerous opportunities Rider has extended to Mercer students,” said MCCC President Dr. Jianping Wang. “We look forward to collaborating in the years ahead as we work toward our common goal of creating opportunities for student success.”
