As the latest snowfall begins to melt away, the Winter Weekend set to take place from Jan. 31-Feb. 2 is heating up with plenty of activities and events to get the campus out and having fun.
What better way to kick off the weekend then with a trip to your favorite game show?
On Friday, Jan. 31, at 8:30 p.m., be the next contestant and come on down to the BLC Theater as Brandon Feinstein and AJ Kelly host The Price Is Right Game Show presented by the Recreation Programs. Based on the popular TV show, The Price Is Right Game Show is sure to bring a smile to your face as you try to make it all the way to the Showcase Showdown.
If you're an outdoor sports fan, then a ski and snowboard trip to Jack Frost Mountain is for you. On Saturday, Feb. 1, at 7 a.m. there will be a trip up the mountain for a day of winter fun. Those interested should sign up at the ticket booth in the SRC. The ticket booth hours are Monday-Friday from 11-1 p.m. or 3-4:30 p.m. The cost begins at $15 for a lift ticket and bus transportation. Lessons and rentals will be an additional cost.
Later that day, at noon in the Student Recreation Center, the Unified Sports Basketball League Kick Off with the Special Olympics will be held. This five-week program will allow Rider students the opportunity to play with and cheer on members of the Special Olympics in a game of basketball. Anyone who wishes to participate in the league should come to the SRC on Saturday to meet with his or her teammates and prepare for the season.
At night, one of the most exciting competitions returns to Rider’s campus for another year. The R Factor season three auditions will be held in the Yvonne Theater at 8 p.m. and are open to all students to come, watch and cheer on their favorite acts. The competition is open to solo and group acts. Individuals must be Rider students. You can register to audition at the Office of Campus Life in the BLC beginning Jan. 27.
The weekend culminates with a Super Bowl viewing party in the SRC lobby on Feb. 2 at 5:30 p.m. There will be pizza, wings and giveaways as the NFL season comes to a close.
