The trainer with 'Hip Hop Abs' will host a fitness class on March 8
by David J. Pavlak
You’ve seen the infomercial late at night. You sit and stare at your TV as before-and-after pictures flash across the screen of people who have completed the workout programs “Insanity” or “Hip Hop Abs.” You say to yourself, “I can do that.” On Saturday, March 8, at 2 p.m., you’ll have your chance when Shaun T visits Rider University.
Students are invited to come to Alumni Gym, as Shaun T will be giving a motivational speech, participating in a Q&A and then hosting an hour-long fitness class.
Shaun T, who was raised in Deptford, N.J., attended Rowan University where he graduated with a bachelor's in sports science and minored in theater/dance. In 2009, he unveiled “Insanity,” an exercise program based on reverse interval training, where individuals work out strenuously for three to four minutes and then cool down for only 30 seconds.
“Having Shaun T come to Rider provides the students an opportunity to learn about proper exercise and fitness goals, while also having the chance to participate in a wildly popular exercise program with the person who created it. It is an experience students will remember,” says Dianna Clauss, assistant director of Campus Life for Recreation Programs.
Tickets are free for full-time undergraduate students and are going fast. Space is limited. Students can pickup their ticket at the Student Recreation Center ticket booth on Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 4:30 p.m.
