For the fourth consecutive year, Rider University’s campus radio station, 107.7 The Bronc WRRC FM, will broadcast live on the opening day of the Philadelphia Flower Show on Saturday, March 5.
The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s Philadelphia Flower Show is the nation’s largest and longest-running horticultural event, attracting over 260,000 people annually from across the country who come to see displays by the world’s premier floral and landscape designers. The 2016 show will run from March 5 – 13 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
In 2013, 107.7 The Bronc made history, becoming the first college radio station in the 184-year history of the Philadelphia Flower Show to broadcast live from this world-renowned event. At the time, The Bronc was selected over many of Philadelphia’s notable commercial and college radio stations, primarily because of the station’s programming and audience, which is complementary to the event. The same reasoning is true today, and why The Bronc has been selected to return each year.
John Mozes, general manager of 107.7 The Bronc, said, “We are honored that the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society has invited us back to broadcast live from the Philadelphia Flower Show. The learning experience our students receive at this world-class event is unparalleled and I believe, one that prepares them the best for the world of broadcasting. We are proud to be a broadcast partner.”
This year, The Bronc will provide six hours of comprehensive coverage from the center of the showroom floor, featuring special editions of its regular Saturday morning programming such as Turf’s Up, Sustainable You, Your Pet Matters, and Inside Your Mind. These shows, all of which are exclusively student-run or student-produced, will focus on this year’s Flower Show theme, Explore America: 100 Years of the National Park Service.

The enthusiastic radio students at The Bronc bring a level of professionalism and excitement to the broadcasts, and they engage a young audience that is vital to the success of the Flower Show and our organization.”
“Students manage everything,” Mozes said. “They pool the questions prior to interviews, take care of all pre- and post-production, update the station website, and manage social networking before, during and after the broadcast.”
