by David J. Pavlak
The Art Society of Rider University will present original works of art created by students during Artworks Trenton’s Art All Day event on Nov. 9 from noon-5 p.m. The exhibition will take place at 247 E. Front St. on the ground floor. It is free and open the public.
“As an institution in the area that has a very strong studio program, Rider should be on the scene in Trenton, and now we are,” Deborah Rosenthal, Rider Art Society advisor, says. “This is an opportunity for Rider and Trenton to get to know each other in the form of works of art that are serious endeavors.”
The works presented by the Art Society have been created in classes such as printmaking, intermediate painting, drawing and painting the figure and advanced drawing, taught by Professor Deborah Rosenthal. The members of the Art Society are art students, as well as students majoring in other disciplines that are interested in the arts.
“The general public that is interested and curious about art is interested in a new young generation of artists coming up,” Rosenthal says. “The presence of the Art Society on campus testifies to the fact that not only the art students, but other students are interested in activities around art and that art is really central to our lives in some way.”
More than 65 artists will participate in Art All Day at open studios and creative venues throughout the city. Artworks created Art All Day to offer an event that showcases the remarkable creative diversity of Trenton.
