More than 1,200 Rider alumni stretching back to the Class of 1939 returned to the University’s Lawrenceville campus for the daylong Reunions 2013 celebration on Saturday, June 8. Whether they returned to race, or eat, compete or learn, or simply catch up with longtime friends, it was a day filled with fun and smiles all around for alumni from across the years.
For the seventh year in a row, the 5K Run/Walk for Women’s Athletics raised vital funding for the Broncs, while in the Cavalla Room, the Class of 1963 was inducted into the Old Guarde Society at a breakfast featuring a special guest who brought the hilarity of the Vaudeville days back to life.
Many in attendance used their smartphones for a guided Green Campus Tour detailing 13 campus science projects before stopping for a bite to eat at the Broncs Picnic on the Bart Luedeke Center patio and campus green.
There was also plenty of action on the hardwood, with past greats from the men’s and women’s basketball teams, including the NBA’s Jason Thompson ’08, returning to Alumni Gym for some fast-paced action.
Meanwhile, various Greek reunions and a variety of career-focused events drew plenty of interest prior to the Rider Alumni Awards ceremony and Science Stairway of Fame inductions. As the afternoon wound down, hundreds flocked to the Garden Party on the Plaza, which brought together alumni, faculty and staff from the past and present in honor of the School of Education’s 100th anniversary.
After the Athletics Hall of Fame Ceremony and Dinner, it was time to gather for more festivities in The Pub, as well as the Theater Alumni Reunion.
