The producer and artist will speak about hip-hop history and the art of sampling
Prince Paul (Paul Huston), the groundbreaking producer of De La Soul's 3 Feet High and Rising, will appear Nov. 5 at Rider University.
Presented by Writer's Block, Prince Paul's appearance will include his perspective on hip-hop history, the art of sampling and the way culture and commerce has clashed across his 30-plus years of making music.
In addition to producing De La Soul's 3 Feet, which the Village Voice called "The Sgt. Pepper of hip hop," Prince Paul has released solo albums, A Prince Among Thieves and Politics of the Business, and performed in Gravediggaz and Handsome Boy Modeling School.
He's also produces songs for Jay-Z, Slick Rick, 3rd Bass, MF Doom, Big Daddy Kane, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte and Boogie Down Productions.
Writer's Block is a creative writing club for Rider students.
Prince Paul will appear Nov. 5 at 2:50 PM in Fine Arts 307 on the Lawrenceville campus.
