The goal of the Institute is to improve the quality of Rider courses
The Teaching and Learning Center has announced a call for participants for the 2016 Summer Course Design Institute. The goal of the Institute is to improve the quality of Rider courses by redesigning them using the flipped classroom model.
Faculty are invited to consider participation in a 3-day Summer Course Design Institute planned for June 13-15, 2016.
This program takes a cohort approach, using project-based professional development and is designed to provide faculty with the tools, time, and collegial support to help faculty work through the course-design process with emphasis on the concept of flipped learning.
Eligibility
Full-time faculty and priority adjuncts are eligible to apply for the Summer Course Design Institute. Space is limited to 10.
Expectations
During the institute, participants will:
- Read materials in preparation for each day;
- Attend and participate in all three days of the institute;
- Make a plan for teaching and learning activities, assessment of student learning, and providing student feedback in the target course;
- Be willing to support and mentor the members of the next cohort member.
Benefits
Participants will have time to focus on enhancing student learning in one particular course. Participants will also receive benefits of collegial conversations. Participants will receive a complimentary workbook of course-planning materials and lunch.
