After two weeks receiving votes in the national rankings, the Rider University men's soccer team has cracked two national polls this week. The Broncs are ranked No. 25 in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll and No. 30 in the College Soccer News National Poll, the two organizations have announced. The Broncs reenter the rankings for the first time since last Sept. 13, when they were ranked No. 22 by the United Soccer Coaches.
Winners of five-straight games, the Broncs currently sit at 8-2 (3-0 MAAC). Most recently, two-time defending MAAC Offensive Player of the Week Elliott Otmani scored both goals in a 2-0 win over MAAC preseason favorite and 2016 MAAC Regular Season Champion Quinnipiac on Wednesday.
Rider began the streak with a double-overtime win over LIU Brooklyn and gained momentum with a 2-1 win over then-No. 21 Fairleigh Dickinson. League victories over Monmouth, Saint Peter's and Quinnipiac have followed. In the five-match winning streak, the Broncs have outscored the opposition, 13-2.
The Broncs play a pivotal league contest Oct. 11, when they welcome Manhattan to Ben Cohen Field at 7 p.m. The contest features the league's two remaining sides that are unbeaten in MAAC play.
