Always a fun warm-up to the spring baseball season, Rider baseball’s fourth annual First Pitch Dinner will be held on Saturday, January 28, at the Mercer Oaks Country Club in West Windsor, N.J. Sports columnist, author and ESPN television personality Tim Kurkjian will be the guest speaker.

Sports columnist, author and ESPN television personality Tim Kurkjian will be the guest speaker at Rider baseball’s fourth annual First Pitch Dinner on Saturday, January 28, at the Mercer Oaks Country Club in West Windsor, N.J.
A Major League Baseball analyst for ESPN’s Baseball Tonight and SportsCenter, Kurkjian is also a contributor to ESPN The Magazine and ESPN.com.
“We are very excited and fortunate to have Tim Kurkjian speak at our dinner this year,” said Rider head baseball coach Barry Davis. “Tim has become a household name for all of us who follow Major League Baseball and we look forward to having him help us kick off the 2012 baseball season.”
Upon graduation from the University of Maryland, Kurkjian wrote for The Washington Star and covered the Texas Rangers for The Dallas Morning News. Later, he became the Baltimore Sun beat writer for the Baltimore Orioles and worked as a senior writer for Sports Illustrated.
Kurkjian is the author of several baseball books, including America’s Game and Is This a Great Game or What?: From A-Rod’s Heart to Zim’s Head – My 25 Years in Baseball.
Always a fun warm-up to the spring baseball season, the First Pitch Dinner will also be highlighted by the introduction of the 2012 Rider baseball team. Philadelphia Phillies television play-by-play broadcaster Tom McCarthy will emcee the event, which will also feature an auction and raffle. Cocktails begin at 7 p.m., with dinner served at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $125 for the reception and dinner, $75 for Rider baseball alumni who have graduated in the last five years, and $40 for children 13 years old and under.
