The day-long celebration will also include a reception honoring retiring president Dr. Mordechai Rozanski
Rider University students, faculty, staff and alumni are cordially invited to participate in our daylong celebration of University Day on Friday, April 17, a tribute to the day Rider was granted university status in 1994. A variety of fun and exciting events throughout the day will honor the past, recognize the present and celebrate the future.
The celebration will begin at 1:30 p.m. in Sweigart Auditorium where Dean Emeritus Dr. Walter Brower ’48 will hold a book signing for his second volume of Rider’s history, Keeping the Promise. Dr. Brower will share insightful passages regarding the growth and success of Rider from 1995 to 2012.
At 3 p.m. come witness the sealing and burial of Sesquicentennial Time Capsule between Moore Library and Kaplan Plaza. The capsule – to be opened on Rider’s Bicentennial celebration – will contain numerous artifacts pertaining to Rider’s history. The university will also present Anna Robbins, Rider’s longest term employee, with a Sesquicentennial Medal of Excellence.
The festivities will continue at 3:30 p.m. with a reception to honor retiring president Dr. Mordechai Rozanski on the Upper Patio of the BLC. All of the Rider community is invited to join in wishing President Rozanski well in his retirement, and pay tribute to his outstanding leadership and significant accomplishments during his 12 years at Rider. Dr. Rozanski’s presidential portrait will be unveiled during the reception.
From 5 to 7:30 p.m., alumni, faculty, staff and students of age are welcome to a Mixer in the Pub featuring music and camaraderie.
University Day events will continue from 7:30 to 10 p.m. on the Ben Cohen Turf Field where there will be live music, games and food trucks. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. This family-friendly event is free with the exception of the food trucks. Bring a blanket to sit on the field. Chairs will be allowed on the blacktop only.
